About

Welcome to my academic website! I'm an Associate Professor of International Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University,  Director of the Peace Research Center Prague (PRCP), Head Researcher at the Experimental Lab for International Security Studies (ELISS), and the Principal Investigator of the European Research Council (ERC) project MICROCODE. I hold a Ph.D. in International Relations from Charles University and a Habilitation in Political Science from Masaryk University. Previously, I was a Fulbright Scholar at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC), Stanford University, and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF).

My main research interests lie at the intersection of security studies, international relations, and political psychology, with a specific focus on nuclear and chemical weapons,  interstate wars and frozen conflicts, arms control and disarmament, deterrence theory, and international norms. I do both qualitative and quantitative research, with a particular interest in surveys and experimental methodology. My articles have been published in International Studies Quarterly, Security Studies, Journal of Conflict Resolution, International Affairs, Journal of Peace Research, International Studies Review, Research & Politics, Contemporary Security Policy, Survival, Conflict Management and Peace Science,  International Interactions, Foreign Policy Analysis, and many other academic and policy journals. I am the author of Nuclear Deviance: Stigma Politics and the Rules of the Nonproliferation Game
